Course Summary

Our combined Gym Instructor and Personal Training course is the fastest route into the fitness industry if you're starting with no previous qualifications.

You'll learn how to assess clients, design personalised training programmes, deliver safe and effective coaching, provide nutritional guidance and build the skills needed to succeed as a Personal Trainer.

If you already hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor or equivalent qualification, you can go straight onto our Level 3 Personal Training course.

How You're Taught

You'll learn through 14 days of in-person training. The face-to-face sessions are a combination of classroom learning and practical coaching in a real gym environment.

You'll receive access to our online learning portal before your course begins, allowing you to complete pre-course study at your own pace, with ongoing tutor support available throughout your qualification.

  • Duration: 14 training days
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor: 6 days
  • Level 3 Personal Training: 8 days
  • Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Delivery: Face-to-face
  • Course Options: Weekend and selected midweek dates available.

Assessment

Written workbooks — You'll complete structured questions and tasks, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of course content.

Session planning and programming — You'll design and structure exercise sessions or training programmes for clients, showing you can apply theory to create safe, effective, goal-appropriate plans for a variety of clients. 

Case studies — You'll be asked to analyse realistic client scenarios and apply your knowledge to make recommendations or decisions, demonstrating practical problem-solving and critical thinking.

Practical observations — An assessor watches you perform skills or deliver a session in real time, directly assessing competence, technique, and professional practice. They'll provide timely feedback and be constructive in supporting you to develop.

No theory exams — There are no written or electronic exams to complete as part of this course.

Entry Requirement

There are no formal entry requirements for this course — it's open to anyone aged 16 or over with an interest in becoming a qualified personal trainer.

  • No previous fitness qualifications are required
  • Some experience using a gym is recommended
  • Able to participate in practical exercise sessions
  • Good reading, writing and communication skills
