New Dates Coming SoonCourse Summary
This qualification is equivalent to a gym or fitness instructor course and should be recognised as the entry course needed to work in a gym-based environment. You'll cover all the skills and knowledge needed to deliver one-to-one and small-group sessions, safely in a gym-based environment.
The existing Gym Instructor qualification tends to focus on maintaining the general health and fitness of members of the public, whereas the S&C (Trainer) is geared towards learners who specifically want to coach sports teams, enhance performance and improve the efficiency of their clients’ movements.
The key word in the title of this qualification is 'foundations'. This course will provide you with a solid knowledge and skill foundation in strength and conditioning, focusing on understanding how the body moves and how exercise can be used to improve the performance of movement. This foundation can be applied to a whole range of clients and is not specifically aimed at athletes.
Improve your coaching with a better understanding of how the body moves and how to progress exercises and training plans effectively.

At Level 2, this qualification is not exclusive to sport performance and can be applied to the general population, as well as athletes. The following diagram highlights the progression routes within the S&C field.

Learners must be aged 16 plus.
Ideally, learners should have some experience of strength and conditioning and have a good level of physical fitness, however this is not essential.
Learners should also have communication skills pitched at level 2 which can be developed during the course.
