How You're Taught

Online

The course content is delivered online, and you'll be able to work through the course at your own pace with the support of a tutor as and when needed. You'll access the learning through our online learning portal, where you'll watch video lectures, read support material, do quizzes and complete written work. All this is in preparation for your practical assessment.

In-person Guidance

Once you're ready, you'll be invited to shadow our assessment team, to get a feel for how the role is done in a real learning and assessment environment. You'll be supported through observing our tutors and assessors, and then once ready you'll conplete your assessment with a qualified assessor.

Assessment

Knowledge Questions

This is a series of questions relating to different aspects of the role of an assessor and the assessment processes you must understand and follow.

Professional Discussion

Once you've completed the knowledge questions you then have a live session with a tutor to discuss some of the questions you've answered, your tutor will ask questions to check your understanding of the assessment processes. 

Learner Outline

For this you must complete a learner outline for yourself, giving some basic information about you and your career. There are four main areas that you write about with a set format to follow.

Standardisation Activity

This is where you will shadow at least one qualified assessor to understand the assessment processes and the required standards at each stage of the assessment. You'll then complete a log sheet to record the activity. 

Practical and Written Assessment of Learners

You'll be observed assessing two learners for two assessments each, one being a practical assessment and one being a written worksheet. You will be observed throughout this process to check that you are assessing learners competently. Please note that the two learners you assess must be undertaking a qualification that you have yourself.

Written Self-reflection

This is a self-reflection on your performance with both learners. For this, you will complete a written document which includes a series of questions about how you think you did in your practical assessment, did you follow assessment processes correctly, how were you with the learner etc.

Entry Requirement

Learners for this qualification must be aged 19 and above and have access to learners (candidates), who they can assess in the training environment.

The qualification covers key principles and practices of assessment, enabling participants to effectively evaluate vocational skills and knowledge. The core units include:

  1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment: This unit covers assessment techniques, responsibilities, and legal requirements.
  2. Assessing Vocational Skills, Knowledge, and Understanding: This unit focuses on planning, conducting, and reviewing assessments in vocational settings.

Fees & Funding

The course fee is £395.00
