Course Summary

Our Level 3 Assessors course is the fastest route into vocational assessment, whether you're already training and coaching or looking for a career change.

You'll learn how to plan, conduct and review assessments, understand your responsibilities as an assessor, and apply the legal and best-practice standards vocational assessment requires.

This course is ideal for trainers, coaches and instructors, further education and training staff, employers assessing in-house competency, and anyone considering a move into assessment and quality assurance.

Imagine being a part of someone's journey into the fitness industry, assessing is a great way to support the next generation of exercise professionals.

How You're Taught

You'll learn through online, self-paced study, with tutor support available as and when you need it. Course materials are delivered through our online learning portal — video lectures, support material, quizzes and written work — all preparing you for your practical assessment.

Once you're ready, you'll shadow our assessment team to get a feel for assessing in a real learning environment. After that, you'll complete your own assessment with two learners, supported and observed by a qualified assessor.

  • Delivery: Online, self-paced
  • Support: Tutor support throughout
  • Practical element: Shadowing + supported assessment of two learners

Assessment

Knowledge questions — A series of questions covering the role of an assessor and the assessment processes you need to understand and follow.

Professional discussion — A live session with your tutor to discuss your answers and check your understanding of assessment processes.

Learner outline — A short written piece about yourself and your career, covering four set areas in a structured format.

Standardisation activity — You'll shadow at least one qualified assessor to see the required standards in practice, then log the activity.

Practical and written assessment of learners — You'll assess two learners across a practical assessment and a written worksheet each, observed throughout to confirm you're assessing competently. The learners you assess must be undertaking a qualification you hold yourself.

Written self-reflection — A reflective document on your own performance across both learner assessments, covering how well you followed assessment processes and worked with your learners.
