As a level 3 sports massage therapist you will be able to plan and perform basic sports massage treatments. At level three you are restricted to working on dysfunction tissue. However, this qualification allows you to continue to level 4, where you will learn more advanced techniques.

How You're Taught
The Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy course runs over 8 days, usually two days a week, at a weekend and spread out to allow time for study and practice of practical skills. Course days run from 9 am until 5 pm and it is essential that you attend all of these days.
Assessment
There are a number of assessments for this course, including both practical and theoretical.
Assessment includes a workbook and worksheets, a theory exam & practical assessment.
Progression
On completion of this course, students are able work on dysfunctional tissue but are excluded from working on recent acute injuries or pre-existing conditions. You can progress onto a level 4 certificate in sports massage to continue this career path.
Entry Requirement
There is no pre-requisite for this qualification.

Fees & Funding
The fee for this course is £1395. A £100 deposit is required to secure your place on the course.
You can pay for this course yourself (self-funded) or if you’re aged 19 or over, have been a resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of the course, and are applying for a course that is over £300 and a level 3 or 4, then you may qualify for a 19+ Advanced Learner Load.
How much can I get?
The amount you get depends on the course and the maximum amounts are set out by the government. The minimum loan amount is £300.
You can take out a loan for the maximum amount to cover your fee or you can pay part of the fee yourself. Please note: The Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy can only be partially funded through the loan scheme, so a personal contribution will also be required for this course.
How is the loan paid?
Student Finance England will pay your agreed loan direct to Envisage once we confirm your attendance on your chosen course.
Repayments
Repaying your 19+ Advanced Learner Loan is straightforward.
- Your monthly repayments will be based on your income, not what you borrowed
- You’ll only start making repayments when your income is more than £25,000 per year
- You’ll only pay back 9% of any income above £25,000 a year
- Any loan remaining 30 years after you’re due to start making repayments will be written off
- If you leave or finish your course before April the following year, you won’t start making repayments through the tax system until after this date. You can make voluntary repayments at any time
- If your income drops or increases your repayment amount will change to reflect this. You can make voluntary repayments at any time to pay off your loan more quickly.

How to Apply
If you book online, you will need to apply for your selected course and choose your payment option. If you are self-funded, you can proceed with the process. If you wish to fund the course with a loan, then select the alternative payment option at checkout. On receipt of your booking, we will contact you and ask you to confirm how you would like to pay for your course. At this point, you can indicate that you would like to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan and we will contact you to arrange an interview.
If you book over the telephone, by email or in person, you will be directed to one of our loan coordinators, who will arrange an interview with you.
During the interview, you will receive information, advice and guidance in relation to the loan and the course you have applied for. If you decide to go ahead with the course and the loan, we will provide you with a Learning and Funding Information Letter (also known as an offer letter). Upon receipt of your Learning and Funding Information Letter, you will apply for your 19+ Advanced Learner Loan via Student Finance England.
FAQs
What happens if I need to miss a day due to illness or a pre-booked event?
It is in your best interest to attend as much of your course as you can. However, if you do need to miss a day or two, don't worry, we will help you to catch-up. We will send you the work that you miss over email or you may even be able to pop in to our office so that we can go through the missing bits with you. All that we ask is that you notify us of your absence as soon as you can so that support can be put in place. If you miss a large chunk of your course, we may transfer you onto a later course so that you are able to attend as many days as possible.
What time does each day start and finish?
Each day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm at the latest. Sometimes you may finish a little earlier, but you will bever leave before 4pm as there is so much content to get through. Please arrive for 8.45am each day so that we can start on time.
Can I pay for this course with Student Finance?
Yes - this course is available on the Advanced Learner Loan scheme. When you get to the payment section of your booking, select "Advanced Learner Loan" and you will not be charged. A member of our team will then contact you to discuss the next steps. For more information about this payment method, click on the "Payment and Funding" tab and then "19+ Advanced Learner Loans".
What do I need to bring?
- Wear clothing and footwear suitable for exercise
- Spare pair of shorts
- Notepad and pen
- Food and drink (microwave and refrigeration facilities are available)
Do we get a lunch break?
Yes, designated lunch breaks are provided. We advise that you bring lunch with you to save you having to leave the venue during your lunch break. Microwave and refrigeration facilities are available.
How do I view all of the course dates that I need to attend?
Click on the "Book Now" button above and all of the course dates will come up for you to view. Don't worry, you will not be booked onto the course at this stage.
Is there anything I need to complete before I start my course?
No - all course materials will be given to you on day one of your course.
Do I need a prior qualification to do this course?
No - there is no pre-requisite for the Level 3 Diploma in Performance Massage qualification, but you do need this qualification to progress onto the Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (Soft Tissue Dysfunction) qualification.
How much work will I have to complete in my own time?
Most tasks are completed on-course, however, we do set home-study tasks on all of our courses. These typically take 2-3 hours per week.
