What Happens on a Level 4 Nutrition Course? What to Expect

Knowing what to expect makes committing to a course far easier. Here's what the Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Nutrition actually involves.

The overall structure

The course is predominantly theory-based, delivered either over 6 in-person days (arriving 8.45am for a 9am start) or 10 evening sessions (arriving 5.45pm for a 6pm start). There are also some practical elements, so you'll need to bring clothing suitable for light exercise.

What you'll cover

  • Nutrition for physical activity and exercise

  • Structure and functions of the digestive system

  • Applied nutrition for exercise, sport and athletic performance

  • Supplements, performance aids and hydration for sports performance

  • Providing dietary advice to support the needs of different athletes and sports people

What to bring

✔ A pen and paper for notes as this course is heavily theory-based

✔ Clothing suitable for light exercise, for the practical elements

How you're assessed

Assessment is spread across a range of tasks integrated throughout the course, rather than one single high-pressure exam at the end.
