The aim of this qualification is to provide the skills, knowledge and competence required for an instructor to design and deliver safe and effective group indoor cycling sessions. To be eligible for this course, students must already have a level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Exercise to Music or Gym Based Exercise).
This course runs over 2 days, usually a day per week for 2 weeks with a week off in between. Course days run from 9.00-5.00PM and it is essential to attend both days. Please note there is a lot of practical work involved on both days.
The assessment for this course takes place on day 2 and involves a written plan, a practical session and a written evaluation. As this is a group activity, it is helpful if students can bring someone along to join in the practical sessions for the assessments on day 2.
If successful in all the assessment elements, students will be awarded a YMCA Awards Qualifications Level 2 Award in Group Indoor Cycling. This qualification allows entry to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 2 & carries 16 REPs CPD points.
On completion of this course, in order to gain a wider range of expertise, students may be interested in other Level 2 specialist modules. Examples include, Circuit Training, Kettlebells and Health Related Exercise for Children.
